GeoReferenced Electoral Districts Datasets

These georeferenced maps provide the boundaries for electoral constituencies and link to the constituencies in the CLEA Lower Chamber election archive. GRED (20190215) is the first non-beta release and consists of 167 maps from 74 countries. Historical coverage is provided for Brazil (1945-2014), Sweden (1952-2014), and the United States (1900-2014). The maps in this release match the constituencies for elections in Release 12 (20181119) of the CLEA Lower Chamber data.

The electoral constituency maps are organized by country. Maps are provided in ESRI Shapefile format and the GRED codebook describes how this file format can be used. Although great care has been taken to prepare the data and codebook as accurately as possible, we would appreciate receiving comments, feedback, and notification of errors. Please direct problems or questions about the data to [email protected]

The beta-2 release of GRED included two additional file formats: ESRI Geodatabase and open-source GeoPackage. These have been eliminated from the non-beta releases. The previous beta-2 files are available upon request.
